Carer Cards - FAQ's

How does the Money Carer Card work?

The Money Carer Card is a unique Mastercard that can be linked to an account on our system. All of our accounts are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Each account is opened in the client’s name through our unique banking platform, Monika.

Uniquely, Money Carer has its own dedicated banking platform, functional in collaboration with our trusted partner, Zempler Bank. Over 250 law firms and local authorities also currently use our platform to open bank accounts, in order to support their own vulnerable clients.

As with any other Mastercard, the Money Carer Card functions as a standard contactless card for making payments, both in-store and online. However, as they are not credit facilities, the card cannot go overdrawn. This should be kept in mind before making payments.

The Carer Card can be topped up on a regular basis. Many carers find it particularly beneficial for this to be done via standing order. In addition to this, our specialised ‘sweep’ system automatically transfers excess funds back into the primary funding account, once reaching a maximum limit. Maximum limits can be set by carers and can be a helpful means to safeguard client finances.
